Before you build a solution demo, make sure to do the advance work of understanding the target audience, their needs and goals for the demo.  Also consider the need and goals of your company.  Armed with this key information, you’re ready to begin building your solution demo (see next post). Getting Started with Solution Demos

Reflections from the Enterprise 2.0 Conference (E2Conf) in Boston

Solutions 2.0? As a solution marketer, I’m always looking for trends that will affect our field. Web 2.0 and social media technologies have been broadly embraced outside the corporation.  Based on many of the same concepts, Enterprise 2.0 technologies — and solutions — are bound to have an effect on the enterprise and on all aspects of software marketing, including solution marketing.  The big question is how much?  That’s why I attended the Enterprise 2.0 Conference (E2Conf) last week in Boston.   Continue reading

SaaS and Open Source: Solutions?

If it’s SaaS, is it a solution? Can a vendor offer an open source solution? Of course they can. A solution is the complete answer to a customer’s problem. If that answer happens to contain open source (OSS) or Software-As-A-Service (SaaS) then it’s still a solution.   Continue reading
